"Salvation of Ixion” oil on Cardboard 25x25 (2023)
Ixion was a mortal who was achieved to drink “ambrosia” at the table of the Gods, Ixion ate and drank at the table of Zeus, but due to his inappropriate behavior, he was condemned to spin on a wheel in Tartaros forever. In this painting, Ixion is identified with Nietzsche. Nietzsche also tasted madness with his Sils Maria experiences, he laughed joyfully from the garden of the Gods, but he also paid the price for it. He too felt “amor fati” in the eternal return and perhaps after that he understood that man is no different from Ixion. Man also constantly revolves in flames in his own circle in eternal lives. On this picture, Dionysus rescue Ixion. Dionysus is also Nietzsche’s savior and represents the joy that binds him to life. Dionysus pulled Ixion’s wheel from Tartaros, but Ixion/Nietzsche was already dead. A spear was thrust into his side, like the one crucified, obviously. Dionysus screams in pain. This unhappened tragedy expose Nietzsche’s philosophy which one is connected with Greek mythological tragedies and his eternal return ideas. So it explain that the joy could pick up from our own eternal hells. But does it really matter if we already burned thousand times or speared by metaphysical fears? The pure joy and madly happiness from life comes with its price.
